Worked hours calculator
Enter the week's times and get the total in hours and minutes and in decimals, with breaks already deducted and the difference against contracted hours. It handles shifts that end after midnight. Nothing is saved: the data stays in your browser.

The calculation deducts the breaks you enter as unpaid. If your contract treats the break as working time, leave the field at zero.
How it works
- Type a start and end time for each day. Days left empty count as rest days.
- In the Break column put the unpaid break in minutes: it comes off that day's total.
- If the end time is earlier than the start, the shift is treated as crossing midnight, so 22:00 to 06:00 gives eight hours.
- Enter contracted hours to see the difference with a plus or minus sign.
Frequently asked questions
- How do you convert minutes into decimal hours?
- Divide by sixty: 15 minutes is 0.25 hours, 30 minutes is 0.50 and 45 minutes is 0.75. A shift of 7 hours 45 minutes is therefore 7.75 hours, not 7.45. It is the most common mistake when adding times by hand.
- How do you calculate shifts that end after midnight?
- Count the stretch up to midnight and then start again from zero: 22:00 to 06:00 is eight hours. The calculator does this automatically whenever the end time is smaller than the start time.
- Should breaks be deducted from worked hours?
- It depends on the contract: where the break counts as working time it stays in, otherwise it comes off. The calculator deducts the minutes you enter, so leave it at zero when the break is paid.
- Does the calculator store what I type?
- No. Everything is computed in the browser and nothing is sent or kept: reload the page and the data is gone.
